Medical Rehabilitation Associates (MRA) was established as a solo physician practice by Douglas M. Pavlak, M.D., in August 1986.
As the demand for high quality physiatry services grew, additional physicians joined the
practice and satellite offices were opened in Augusta and Brunswick. MRA currently employs seven
physiatrists and three mid-level practitioners (P.A. or N.P.), and over thirty support staff in
three locations. In December of 1999 the Lewiston offices relocated to a
12,500 square foot facility located at 77 Bates Street in
Lewiston. The Interventional Spine Division was
established in 2001 at the Lewiston site and a portion of the building is home
to a procedure suite which contains interview rooms, procedure/radiology room,
recovery area and a dedicated waiting room. Three of the MRA physiatrists
provide full-service interventional injection techniques for both spinal pain as
well as various neurologic pain disorders.
Medical Rehabilitation Associates is a member of the Better Business Bureau and the Maine Safety Council.
MRA physicians are members of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Maine Society of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Maine Medical
Association, Maine Osteopathic Association, American Academy of Pain Medicine,
American Society of Interventional Pain Physicians, and International Injection
Society.
MRA physicians are specialists and therefore require referral from a primary care or other specialty provider.
